Health conditions in adults with autism

Ewelina works as a researcher on a project looking at health of adults with autism

 

 

We wanted to know if adults with autism have more additional health conditions than other people

 

 

We used information from the 2011 Scottish Census to explore this

 

 

Information on 6,649 adults aged 25 and over with autism was included in the Scottish Census

 

 

Adults with autism were more likely to have hearing or vision problems

 

 

Adults with autism were more likely to have learning disabilities

 

 

Adults with autism are more likely to have mental health conditions

 

 

Adults with autism are more likely to have physical disabilities

 

 

Women with autism were more likely to have additional health conditions compared to other women
