Ewelina works as a researcher on a project looking at health of children with autism

 

 

We wanted to know if children and young people with autism have more additional health conditions than other people

 

 

We used information from the 2011 Scottish Census to explore this

 

 

Information on 25,063 children and young people aged 0-24 with autism was included in the Scottish Census

 

 

Children and young people with autism were more likely to have hearing or vision problems

 

 

Children and young people with autism were more likely to have learning disabilities 

 

 

Children and young people with autism were more likely to have mental health conditions

 

 

Children and young people with autism were more likely to have physical disability

 

 

Girls with autism were more likely to have additional health conditions
