Before a baby is born doctors can carry out tests to find out if the baby has any conditions, such as Down syndrome

Some women continue with the pregnancy after they find out their baby has Down syndrome, while others decide to end the pregnancy

We would like to find out how many women in Scotland decide to continue the pregnancy after they find out their baby has Down syndrome

We will analyse information from all tests for Down syndrome carried out from 2000 to 2011

We will link this to information from hospitals to find out how many pregnancies were continued

We will also find out if there have been changes in how many continue with their pregnancy after they find out the baby has Down syndrome

We will write a report that will help us understand any changes in the number of women who continue their pregnancy in Scotland
