Health conditions in adults with autism

This project looked at the health conditions of people with autism compared to people without autism.

What we did

We looked at the health of adults aged 25 and over with autism.

We compared the health of adults with and without autism in Scotland's Census 2011.

What we found

Adults with autism are more likely to have health problems than other people.

Women with autism are more likely to have learning disabilities and physical disabilities than women without autism.

What we will do next

We have written a report and will share the information with health providers.

Doctors need to know more about our finding to provide suitable care and support to adults with autism.
