This project looked at the health of children and young people who have autism.

What we did

We looked at the health of children and young people with autism aged 0 - 24 years.

We compared the health of children and young people with and without autism in Scotland's Census 2011.

What we found

Children and young people with autism are likely to have more health conditions than children and young people without autism.

Half of the children and young people with autism also have learning disabilities.

Girls with autism have more health problems than boys.

What we will do next

We have written a report and will share the information we found with health providers

Health providers will use this information to plan better help and support for children and young people with autism.
